Jerry Heil becomes Ambassador for Humanitarian Demining in Ukraine

The singer will support the topic of humanitarian demining, in particular within the preparation to the annual international Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2025 (UMAC2025), which this year will take place in Tokyo, Japan.

Jerry Heil has become the official Ambassador for Humanitarian Demining in Ukraine on the initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine (MoEEA) and Demine Ukraine, the national platform for accelerating humanitarian demining. Through this partnership, the topic of mine action, the return of land to safe use, and in particular the engagement of women in the mine action sector will reach millions of people in Ukraine and abroad.

According to Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, Jerry Heil’s ambassadorship will help scale communication efforts and attract new audiences to the issue: "Humanitarian demining is the foundation for the country’s recovery and for people’s return home. Thanks to the partnership with Jerry Heil, we will be able to engage those who are not yet familiar with the scale of challenges and with what Ukraine is already doing to restore safety through demining. This will certainly help to focus more support for Ukraine both inside the country and abroad."

As part of the partnership, Jerry Heil is also joining the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) communication campaign, implemented in the framework of preparations for the Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2025 in Tokyo. The campaign is being carried out together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

"Music is a universal language that makes complex things simple and understandable for everyone, regardless of borders. For me, as a representative of Ukrainian music, it is extremely important that what I love most serves the people I love most. Today I want to use the power of my music to speak about those who, every day and at the risk of their lives, make Ukrainian land safe — for the sake of our freedom and a future filled with warm memories. Together we are preparing something that will be another step in this direction," said Jerry Heil.

As an Ambassador, Jerry Heil will speak about the dangers of mines and the efforts to clear Ukrainian land of mines and explosive remnants of war, both in Ukraine and on international platforms.

Background

The Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC2025) is the main international platform for discussing humanitarian mine action. This year, it will take place on 22–23 October 2025 in Tokyo, hosted by Japan and co-organized with Ukraine.

The event will bring together more than 300 representatives of international partners and organizations at a high political level, international and national mine auction operators, non-government organizations, and representatives of the private sector. The main goal of the conference is to consolidate joint efforts that will help accelerate the clearance of Ukrainian land and ensure its safe use for life, agriculture, and economic recovery, as well as to coordinate with other mine-affected countries to address the global challenge of mine contamination.
