Victim Assistance from the State and NGOs
The term "Victim Assistance" in the context of mine action refers to a range of measures aimed at meeting the needs and rights of individuals affected by explosive ordnance (EO). This includes emergency and ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, psychological and psychosocial support, and socio-economic inclusion.
Victims can receive assistance from:
- The state;
- non-governmental organizations (national and international).
State support
The following state support is available:
- Medical services;
- medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC);
- rehabilitation;
- prosthetics and maintenance of prosthetic devices;
- psychological assistance for victims and their families;
- social protection, status, benefits, and social assistance;
- financial/cash assistance;
- legal assistance;
- education and retraining;
- employment assistance and job placement services;
- inclusive preschool and school education;
- shelter and temporary housing;
- other services.
