Cooperation
Cooperation with institutional partners in the area of humanitarian demining
Demining Ukraine's territory is expected to be a costly and long-term process.
According to the World Bank, as of February 2024, the full range of work on conducting non-technical and technical surveys of potentially contaminated areas, as well as the clearance of actually contaminated areas, requires funding of about USD 34.6 billion from now until 2033.

Mechanisms for coordination with institutional partners
Today, coordination with institutional partners is carried out in the following main areas:
- Sectoral Working Group meetings on Humanitarian Demining;
- bilateral coordination: meetings with current and potential Partners to coordinate ongoing projects and future actions;
- presenting humanitarian demining at international events:
- 2024 Ukraine Mine Action Donor Coordination Workshop with over 130 participants (18-19 April 2024, Kyiv, Ukraine);
- Ukraine Recovery Conference, a panel discussion on humanitarian demining as part of the Human Dimension of the Conference (11-12 June 2024, Berlin, Germany);
- Ukraine Mine Action Conference, which will be held on 17-18 October 2024 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
In addition, ongoing work is underway to improve coordination with Partners.
In particular, additional tools and approaches for coordination in the following priority areas are being gradually introduced:
- Long-term planning and programming of humanitarian mine action support based on the alignment of strategic objectives set by the Government of Ukraine and relevant Partners’ strategies and policies;
- improving the formulation of the needs of responsible state authorities in the area of humanitarian demining, ensuring these needs are clearly justified and connected to the anticipated outcomes of the support provided;
- digitalization of the monitoring system and analysis of mine action needs and Partners’ support to ensure effective data management and transparency tools are in place.
Where possible, introduce Partners’ niche specialisations based on the specifics of their humanitarian demining support to minimise duplication and increase each Partner's support effectiveness.
