Director of the Centre for Humanitarian Demining Participates in International Forum in Dubrovnik
Ukraine has a clear vision of its territories deming and is ready to strengthen cooperation with partners for recovery of de-occupied lands. This was stated by Volodymyr Baida, Director of the Centre for Humanitarian Demining, during the forum in Dubrovnik, where this year's discussions focused on global conflicts and the risks they pose.
One of the main topics on the first day was mine action, as Croatia, the host country, knows well how long mined areas remain dangerous regardless of whether the war continues or has ended. A dedicated panel on Ukraine discussed demining and land restoration as the initial phase of Ukraine's reconstruction.
"We are grateful to our partners for the provided assistance. The expertise you share is as valuable as financial and material contributions. Together, we have developed the Mine Action Strategy until 2033, and the government has approved this document. It outlines Ukraine's mine action priorities for the next 10 years, which will enhance the efforts of all stakeholders in the process of clearing Ukrainian lands," said Volodymyr Bayda, Centre for Humanitarian Demining.
Participants of the discussion were actively interested in Ukraine's experience with humanitarian demining during the active phase of the war, the establishment of mine action management structures, and the distribution of responsibilities and areas of accountability.
The Dubrovnik Forum is an annual international meeting of leaders from Central and Southeast Europe, providing a platform for discussing current issues and challenges. The event takes place in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik.
