The State Emergency Service of Ukraine Receives Three Pyrotechnic Vehicles for Humanitarian Demining from Slovenia

18 January 2025

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) has received three light pyrotechnic vehicles, “KOZAK PM-L,” purchased with funds provided by the Government of Slovenia under the United24 initiative. Certificates for the vehicles were presented to SES Chief Andrii Danik by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, during her working visit to Ukraine. The ceremony also included Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Nadiia Bihun.

"I am grateful to Slovenia for its consistent support of Ukraine. This is already the second transfer of equipment in the past six months, which is critically important for demining our territories. Importantly, the pyrotechnic vehicles received by SES specialists are made in Ukraine, providing additional support to the Ukrainian economy during the war. Most importantly, humanitarian demining projects save lives," said Deputy Minister of Economy Nadiia Bihun.

The tender for the procurement of light pyrotechnic vehicles was conducted in September 2024. The total cost of the three vehicles amounted to approximately 38 million UAH, which is 3.6 million UAH less than the initial estimated cost. SES has been utilizing vehicles of this class in its operations for several years.

"In demining, the most valuable resource is people. These pyrotechnic vehicles help protect the lives of our sappers by providing safe transportation for mines and other explosive ordnance. By tomorrow, all three vehicles will be deployed to operational zones," stated SES Chief Andrii Danik.

This marks the second equipment transfer financed by Slovenia. In October 2024, SES received two heavy-duty trucks for transporting demining machines. The agreement for 1.5 million euros in humanitarian aid for demining efforts was signed between the governments of Ukraine and Slovenia in December 2023 and came into effect on July 3, 2024, following the completion of necessary domestic procedures.

"We are focused on expertise and innovation in the field of demining, and we are happy to share this with you. We are pleased to have the opportunity and financial resources to support Ukraine over the past two years, and we will continue to do so," stated Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.

Reference Information: The Ministry of Economy manages the United24 account designated for humanitarian demining needs. Since May 2023, the account has received over 190 million UAH in equivalent funds. Allocation of these resources is overseen by a commission under the Ministry of Economy, which determines the amount required to support humanitarian demining efforts.
